Frequently Asked Questions:

   Q. How much do your stock plans cost?
   A. STOCK PLANS ARE CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED AT THE INTRODUCTORY PRICES SHOWN HERE:
Less than 200 sq. ft. =      $39.00
200-299 sq. ft. = $49.00
300-399 sq. ft. = $59.00
400-499 sq. ft. = $69.00
500-999 sq. ft. =                   $79.00
1,000-1,499 sq. ft. =        $89.00
1,500 sq. ft. and up =  starting at $99.00

  Q. Can I get customized plans?
   A.  Yes.  I can either customize one of my stock plans to suit your needs or I can design you your own              unique plans "starting from scratch."  Either way, the cost is just $49.00 per hour.

   Q. Are your designs copyrighted?
    A.  Yes.  It is a violation of copyright law to build my designs without purchasing the plans from me.               Each purchased set of plans entitles the buyer to build one building of that design.  To build a                 second building you need to purchase a second set of plans from me.  Three buildings require three             sets of plans, etc.

   Q. Can I get a discount if I buy more than one set of plans?
    A. Yes.  Each additional set of identical plans is half the price of the original set, as long as you buy              them all at the same time.  When you click a "buy this" button for a specific model, you will be         able to enter the number of sets you want to buy.  If you order more than one set of one model, I            will refund half the sales price to you for all additional sets by money order to be sent with your              plans.

  Q. What does a set of plans consist of?
    A. Each "set" is actually three copies of one complete set of construction documents (one for you, one             for a general contractor to estimate construction costs from, and one to refer to on the job-site               during construction).  Each of the three complete sets includes the following:

- One or more dimensioned floor plans depending on the number of levels in the chosen design.
- A foundation plan.
- Framing plan(s) where appropriate.
- Exterior building elevations including critical dimensions, labeled finish materials, etc.
- One or more building cross-sections, as appropriate for the chosen design.
- Critcal construction detail drawings as appropriate.
- Lists of doors and windows including manufacturers, sizes, model numbers, etc.
- Critical interior elevations as appropriate.
- Electrical plan(s)

   Q. Do your plans meet all building codes?
     A. That depends on a number of factors.  The larger Emerson and Muir series buildings are generally               code compliant, but since each jurisdiction has its own quirks, the designs may need adjustments to             conform to the codes in your area.  I can make these adjustments for you at my standard rate of               $49.00 per hour.

Some designs, especially those in my Thoreau series probably won't be considered code compliant                due to their small size.  To build them, you will need to find a place that either does not have                  building codes (see next question), does not enforce them, or is willing to grant you a variance to              build there.  Buildings in my Thoreau series are intended mostly as wilderness camps or cottages.                Many, but definitely not all rural or wilderness areas will permit them.  It is your                                responsibility to check with appropriate local zoning and building authorities and obtain proper permits           (if required) before starting any work on your building project.

   Q. How do I go about finding a place with no building codes?
    A. You may want to consider purchasing the book, No Building Codes, available
